Our Team including Managing Director attended the domestic exhibition in Istanbul, Turkey.
We asked our team members Elcin Icel and Umang Gandecha to write about their time during Study Expo on behalf of our student accommodation agency. Read how they experienced the event in Istanbul.

Londonist StudyExpo Istanbul 2018

My name is Umang, the Sales Executive at Londonist. Having just got back from a business trip in Asia, I went to Study Expo Istanbul along with our Managing Director Asım Ertürk and Business Process Co-ordinator Elcin Icel.
I was excited to attend this exhibition as I do not usually deal with the Turkish market so it was a great insight for me to see how the agencies and students were compared to my usual markets in China, Korea and Thailand. It is fair to say that the exhibition was something never seen before with a real size Bronze Studio on show to the students. Having worked in the industry for over 3 years now and having attended many fairs around the world, I can say this was a step into the future for Londonist.

My daily job at Londonist involves explaining the different room types we have to offer so to have a real life room was perfect to show to the students. The studio room even had a real toilet, shower, kitchen and bed which made it easy for the students to see where they would be living if they were to book a room in London through Londonist.
Around 95% of the students at the Study Expo fair were from Turkey and being from London, it was great to interact with the students and speak to them about life in London. It really makes a difference when the students hear first-hand about the accommodation and what they can expect when they move to London.
Along with the life-size room, we had 3D virtual games for the students to interact and enjoy during their time at the fair. At Londonist our brand is innovative, and we are closely in touch with the students daily. Therefore, when we attend these fairs we always want to connect with the students in the best way possible.
The way these fairs are organized are perfect to meet other institutions and agencies. On my final night in Istanbul, there was a gala dinner organised by the fair and I can honestly say it was one of the best nights I had. After a lovely traditional Turkish meal, I got involved in some Turkish dancing with all the agencies. It was really a great way for me not only to connect with the people around me but also with the Turkish culture.

Coming back from Istanbul, it is fair to say the trip was a great success. Having met so many different people over the two days, Londonist has already received great interest in our residences as well as immediate bookings from students. I really look forward to attending this event next year again.

Hi, my name is Elcin, and I am the Business Process Coordinator at Londonist.
On behalf of Londonist, I participated in two fairs in Turkey over a period of 10 days in total.
One of these was Alphe Istanbul held in Istanbul starting from 22nd February. Our aim to participate in these fairs are always to introduce our new services and locations as an ever-growing and established company in Turkey, where we also always want to develop relationships with our existing and new potential customers.
We had intense meetings together with our Managing Director Asim Erturk over a course of 2 days with visiting agents of domestic agencies and schools.

Elcin, Business Process Coordinator at Londonist said;

“Our aim to participate in this fair was to introduce our services to our students by contacting them personally and to provide a better service in the future by knowing our students and understanding their demands. ”

We drew attention by showcasing our accommodation with a high standard and modern interior to new prospects and also briefing them about our additional services, which meet all of our clients’ demands.

We learnt from our many meetings with students and agents that both providing a wide range of 14 different accommodation options across London and offering flexibility when it comes to short-term stays was one of the key factors why they chose Londonist as their accommodation partner.
