A recent survey commissioned by Le Cordon Bleu London has found that 52% of British residents dream of changing a hobby into a career. However, over a third feel they may be underqualified to make their desired move, while 52% say finance would be the biggest barrier to changing career.
The survey results come as Le Cordon Bleu London announce the launch of the Julia Child Scholarship, proudly supported by Londonist.
Le Cordon Bleu London is searching for some of the country’s most passionate food and cooking enthusiasts – regardless of age, location or background – giving them the chance to hit the career reset button and study at the world’s leading culinary arts institution.

The scholarship will be offered to one eager and ambitious chef to pursue their true vocation. This is a once in a lifetime opportunity for someone who may have aspired to a career in food but, for whatever reason, up until now has been on a different path.

The Scholarship Award prize
The winner will be awarded a place on Le Cordon Bleu’s most prestigious course, the Grand Diplôme®. The 9 month course comprises two diplomas studied simultaneously: the Diplôme de Pâtisserie and Diplôme de Cuisine. The winner will also receive:
- One-to-one sessions with highly successful alumni including Luciana Berry, Eran Tibi, Adam Ashe and Hideko Kawa.
- An internship under the guidance of esteemed chef Monica Galetti at Mere Restaurant
